Trevoh Chalobah Poised to Replace Guehi in England National Team

Chelsea defender in action

The Chelsea star followed his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first pair of brothers to play for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is expected to be added to the Three Lions selection to replace unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is due to link up with the national side for England's final World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania, but it has yet to be confirmed.

The England team have already qualified for the upcoming competition.

Chalobah earned his maiden call-up under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the team for qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and additionally didn't call him up for the subsequent October international break.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's career, having awarded him his Chelsea first appearance in the year 2021.

Chalobah has featured in nearly all matches for Chelsea this season, with the team occupying third spot in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League success over the Dutch side last week.

There are set to be further call-ups to the team. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has said that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (a concussion) will withdraw from the squad.
