Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
