Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted recently, and with a remarkable show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the top winner. The standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the esteemed Top Game award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the developer's success, its skilled cast also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Studio of the Year. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its makers collected 7 awards throughout the show.
Additional standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only 4 special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by experts.
