Edwards and O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
